Rather than muck about with silly, media-based recording, B&O has decided to go, guns blazing, straight for the PVR market in its own, inimitable, achingly hip fashion.
The HDR 2 packs a 250GB hard drive; enough space for a hefty 110 hours of Super VHS quality footage, or an equally impressive 60 hours of DVD quality gawp-o-vision. It’s also compatible with any feed, be it cable, satellite, or terrestrial, so ‘the only limit to your TV is your imagination,’ as we imagine the marketing blurb might say.
Re-record, not fade away
A Sky+-style series link function allows you to record each and every episode of your favourite docu-drama-thriller-soap and can be set up to delete old recordings to free up space for new ones. Naturally, the pause and rewinding of live TV is included and updated editing functions can splice recordings into several smaller ones. Although exactly why you’d want to do that is a mystery to us.
Via the optional Beolink system, plucky users can stream footage from their HDR 2 to other rooms of the house. ‘This is TV. Your way,’ we imagine some more advertising nonsense would say.
In other news, word on the street has it that the BeoMedia 1 is now Mac friendly and also shoehorns a 250GB hard drive into its respectably dinky chassis. So good news all round from B&O.
