Chevy Bolt EV to start building next year?

Chevrolet’s recently-announced Bolt EV has the potential to shake up the lower end of the electric car market, promising 200 mile range in an attractive, compact US$30,000 (about £19,500) hatchback. And while the version showed last month was clearly labeled a concept, sources say that production may begin as soon as next year.

Reuters reports that Chevy made start building the Bolt EV outside Detroit, Michigan starting in October 2016, along with a version to be sold through Opel in Europe. The early estimate is to produce 25,000-30,000 vehicles per year, but what we’re most interested to find out is whether the Bolt EV will make it to market before Tesla’s similarly affordable Model III, which is pegged for a 2017 debut. Considering the continued Model X delays, we wouldn’t be too surprised.

New Call of Duty out this autumn

The sun still shines, water is wet, and yes indeed, a new Call of Duty game will launch later this year. That’s hardly mind-blowing news, but it’s the word coming out of Activision this week, confirming what we all assumed long ago.

What’s also not terribly surprising – but now official – is that Treyarch will develop this year’s to-be-announced entry. Treyarch handled the Black Ops games, the second of which (shown above) started pushing the series further into future settings, and it’ll be the studio’s first Call of Duty game with a three-year development cycle. We’ll surely hear more before E3 rolls around in June.

First Daredevil Netflix trailer

If you’ve found Marvel’s network television efforts a little meek and muted compared to the flashy big-screen action, perhaps its announced Netflix original series will provide a happier medium. First up is Daredevil, launching all at once on 10 April, and the first trailer was released this week.

And it looks good! Lead Charlie Cox isn’t donning the bright red uniform in this one – at least not in the images they’re showing so far – but it has a really gritty, serious tone that ought to suit the material well. Next up for Marvel and Netflix is A.K.A. Jessica Jones, which is planned to release either later this year or early next with Krysten Ritter in the starring role.

First Persona 5 trailer

Persona has seemingly been the best-loved Japanese role-playing series in recent years, what with Final Fantasy becoming terribly inconsistent of late, and yesterday’s release of the first trailer for Persona 5 on PlayStation 3/4 has fans flipping out. And for good reason: it looks utterly gorgeous, even if what’s shown is mostly cut-scenes and menus. The trailer’s not even in English, but it’s still captivating, and we’re looking forward to seeing more before its release sometime this year.
