Codemasters reveals two new F1 games

The Formula One simulation franchise isn’t quite ready to make the new-gen leap, so Codemasters yesterday announced plans to launch F1 2014 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on 17 October.

F1 2014 ought to build upon the winning formula of recent entries, and it’ll add the new turbocharged vehicles, along with fresh circuits and the like. Codemasters also says that it will strive for accessibility with an added driver evaluation system that tweaks difficulty settings, plus improved handling with a gamepad.

When 2015 rolls around, the publisher will be ready to make the new-gen leap onto Xbox One and PlayStation 4 (also PC again) with a brand new game, which is pegged to launch earlier in the F1 season (which begins in March) than usual. Something for now, something for later. Good call.

Monarch launches in-flight entertainment via your phone/tablet

Monarch MPlayer

Rather than pack its planes full of screens, Monarch has announced the launch of the MPlayer in-flight entertainment system, which allows you to download an iOS or Android app and wirelessly tap into the carrier’s media offerings when onboard.

For a per-flight fee of £3.99, you’ll be able to access a selection of major films, dozens of episodes of BBC Worldwide programmes, and 50+ albums from top artists new and old. Free digital magazines are also available for those not eager to spend.

MPlayer is available now on six of Monarch’s planes, and will expand out to the entire fleet by the end of the year. Paired with the carrier’s recent new ergonomic, non-reclining seats – which feature a tablet-holding slit on the back – Monarch will hopefully keep fliers both comfortable and entertained.
