Fans of Route 66 now have a device to call their own. The Chicago (geographical coverage Europe – go figure) shares the same 4.3-inch widescreen configuration as its top-line rivals but looks a lot slimmer for it. At just 24mm thick it’s one of the few units that’ll slip into a pocket – which beats leaving it in the car for some oik to nick. The software is the customary, clean looking interface that’s sat so well on a myriad of Nokias, iPaqs and XDAs. Impatient tappers will welcome the QuickSearch feature. Just type in any part of the address or POI name into one box and it’ll find it. Free speed camera info comes as standard on the 6000, and there are free traffic updates with the optional TMC receiver add-on. The 8000 adds full detailed map coverage for the whole of Europe, as well as Great Britain and Ireland.
