Sometimes, it’s enough for a gadget to look stupendous to get our attention.
Take, for a timely example, this new KEF surround speaker system and its Darth Vader black finish, striking satellites and radical discus-like subwoofer.
Being KEF, the new system comes with audio accoutrements, too. The drivers in all the speakers have been upgraded – useful, seeing as they’re the bits that make the noise you hear – and should cope better with bass than the previous generation. You also get KEF’s Uni-Q tech, which should make for a nice evenly-spread sound judging from our previous experience.
The really cool bit here, though, is the HTB2 sub: the cool round thing. Like an Xbox 360 – but minus the wind tunnel sound effects – it can be mounted on its side or upright. As well as helping it to fit into that accidental alcove built during your last DIY project, it also gives you a choice of how you want your bass directed around the room.
The icing on this tasty cake will be coming shortly in the shape of glossy black speaker stands, much like the KIT 200’s but, according to KEF, ‘better’. And who doesn’t like better, eh?
