Meet the 610hp Lamborghini Huracán
We’re blown away by the Gallardo’s replacement, which goes from 0-60mph in under 3.2 seconds
It’s not often that Lamborghini unveils a new supercar, so the Huracán has got us very excited indeed. Replacing the Gallardo – the Italian marque’s jewel in the crown for the past decade – the new model hits the twin sweet spots of being lighter and more powerful than its predecessor.
Cleaner, slicker shape
The Huracán boasts the wedge-like looks that have become Lamborghini’s trademark, albeit a cleaner, slicker shape than we’ve seen before. And the design is replete with modern touches: LED lights are employed everywhere, while the instrument panel is a 12.3in LCD screen that can be configured with whatever information each driver wants to see.
On the engine front, the car offers a new 5.2-litre, 610-horsepower V10 engine, married to a 7-speed automatic transmission. Top speed is 201mph, and the Huracán will hit 62mph from static in just 3.2 seconds.
Lamborghini revealed the Huracán (its name, like the Gallardo and Murciéllago before it, is drawn from the world of bullfighting) at a private event, ahead of a spring 2014 launch. It’ll be publicly revealed at next March’s Geneva car show, so expect to learn the (no doubt eye-watering) price then.
