News Nugget – LaCie FastKey is world’s tiniest USB 3.0 SSD drive

Forget bulky spinning external hard drives. The future is solid state

It’s not cheap, but if your storage priorities need to put some poke in portability, LaCie’s FastKey could be your man. Binning spinning disc media, the company’s new SSD flash drive can work up write speeds of up to 260mbps via USB 3.0 – that’s roughly 1000 MP3s in a minute.

In a nod to previous LaCie designs, the 26 cubic cm stick is encased in brushed aluminium. It’s available in 30GB (£135), £60GB (£215) and 120GB (£395) sizes. We never said it would be cheap.
