Notion Ink’s tablet has a monochrome display on its edge because, well, why not?
This wacky tablet's got a trick up its sleeve to stand out from the Android crowd
Notion Ink has revealed the Adam II, an Android tablet which has caught our attention, despite its mediocre specs.
While its 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 1,280×800 display won’t get spec fiends’ hearts fluttering, it’s got a party trick that no other Android tablet can match – A 100×5 monochrome edge-mounted display.
The display won’t be good for anything more than glancing at notifications, but we have to give credit to Notion Ink for pushing for a little innovation in a sea of Android tablets.
The ticker display itself is a monochrome STN LCD screen, which is the same one used in classic phones such as the Nokia 3510. Which is nice.
The Adam II is only available in India for RS 16,500 for the time being though, so you’ll have to make do with your old beat-up Nokia taped to your tablet for the time being.
