O2 is doing its part in trying to keep itself in the iPhone game, and on the day Orange will start offering the iPhone on its network, O2 is slashing tethering costs.

Tethering will allow you to hook your phone up to your computer and use it as a modem – handy for when you’re in a no Wifi area and need to get online..

Previously tethering had cost £14.68 per month for 3GB, but now pay monthly customers can bag the same package for £9.79 a month if bought before 31 December.

Even better is that you’ll also get O2’s basic home broadband package, worth £7.34, for free – or you can choose to get that amount off a higher broadband package instead.

Taking this in to account, this basically brings down the tethering cost to £2.45 a month.

Orange is offering a number of tethering options, starting at just under a five a month for 500MB.

Would you pay to tether your phone, and does O2’s offer appeal? You can check it out on the O2 iPhone website, and let us know below.
