Spotify reveals unlimited free web player streaming

The music streaming giant ditches all limits for web player users ahead of the Beats Music launch

Hot on the heels of bringing its free streaming service to Android and iOS, Spotify has announced that it has removed all limitations for streaming free ad-supported music on its web player.

Up until now, Spotify put an hourly cap on how much free music non-premium users could listen to each month after a six month trial period, but that’s been abolished from today.

While ads will still be present, it’s welcome news for Spotify users who still don’t fancy forking out £10 a month for the premium service.

The move comes ahead of the launch of Beats Music’s streaming service which is set to launch on 21 January, and should help keep Spotify at the top of the music streaming pack ahead of rivals like Rdio and Google Play Music.
