75in Samsung ES9000 Smart TV coming to Europe

Sammy goes for gold with gesture controlled Smart TV

Samsung’s gesture-controlled 75in ES9000 Smart TV is set to hit Europe, letting you play Angry Birds on a giant screen, should you so desire.

It’s not going to come cheap, at around £8000 – but you get plenty of bang for your buck. And bling, too – the ES9000 is finished in rose gold with a bezel that’s a mere 7.9mm wide. Its integrated webcam hides away when not in use, too, so as not to disrupt the TV’s lines. And the screen itself is a thing of beauty – Samsung claims that the ES9000 has the highest contrast ratio of any Smart TV it’s made.

So far, so pretty. But does the ES9000 have brains to match its looks? Well, Samsung’s certainly playing up the smart angle – the ES9000 has Smart Interaction, Smart Content and Smart Evolution features. The latter is the most impressive feature, letting you upgrade the insides so your set doesn’t become obsolete.

Smart Interaction is a fancy way of saying gesture control – letting you play the aforementioned Angry Birds, among other apps – while Smart Content means web browsing and video calls. Finally there’s Sound Share, letting you wirelessly connect the TV to Samsung Series 6 and Series 7 Wireless Audio with Dock Systems.

If your pockets are a little too light for the ES9000, Samsung’s also offering the smaller ES8000, measuring in at a mere 65in.
