These Sony Ericsson-branded renders are the work of Du Jun, a designer working alone and without the company’s blessing. But don’t you wish this was real?

Wow! A hovering phone! Not really, but it is an original design, badged up to show its Walkman innards, brandishing a slightly underwhelming 3.2MP cam and with a distinctive chromed hinge. One of three opening mechanisms as it turns out…

Starting with the big hinge, the screen swivels around to present dual touchscreens side-by-side. They can work independently… or as a single big screen. Plus you can flip it open vertically to get stacked portrait screens. And to be used as a phone, of course.

That’s not all – snap apart the two halves of the phone and you can use it as a walkie-talkie. We’re not saying that’s something we’ve exactly been crying out for, but this handset – like the HTC 1 we saw a few weeks ago – is so much better than the iClones most of the industry is pumping out at the moment. Hire this man, Sony Ericsson, and build his phone.
