More details leak about Sony’s Z4 Ultra
The followup to the last Xperia Z Ultra looks pretty slick
The Sony mobile leaks keep coming, this time about the update for the last Xperia Z Ultra. Now more details have emerged about the upcoming Xperia Z4 Ultra phablet. Is it worthy of our curiosity?
If you’re unfamiliar with the Xperia Ultra line, just think of it as being in a similar class to the Samsung Galaxy Note and Huawei Ascend ranges. If the rumours are true, the new Z4 Ultra will boast a huge 6.44in screen.
Yet another phablet
As for specs, the device may be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC, which would be an upgrade from its predecessor the Xperia Z Ultra. That’s not hugely surprising, as the Z Ultra was a lightly-specced phone strapped onto a big screen. In short, the Z4 Ultra will share the same CPU as the upcoming Sony flagship, meaning that the Z4 Ultra will be on par with the new Xperia Z4 and future models.
Rumours abound that this will be Sony’s new mobile strategy: to concentrate on where the money is by going upmarket to the middle and high-end segments and avoiding the entry-level. This could be a bold move by Sony as they beef up all their devices, but that could also possibly mean that the phones may cost more across the board.
