Zen portable speakers 3, iPod portable speakers 57

Taking your Zen Micro away on holiday? Creative would like you to take a peek at the Travelsound 400. You should, too - it looks like a fine little speaker system

You’ve gotta feel some sympathy for portable speaker systems these days – it’s hard for the poor buggers to stand out.

Fortunately for Creative, its new Travelsound 400 did enought to get our attention, catching our eye with a pair of 2 x 2W speakers that fold into the unit for protection (see the inset pic).

Battery life’s nothing special at 35 hours from AAAs and there’s no dock for a Zen Touch or Zen Sleek, but it does have a simple headphone cable so you can plug in whatever MP3 player floats your boat.

You should be able to pick up a pair for £60 now. We’ll let you know what they sound like as soon as we’ve run them in.

More info from Creative’s website.
