Just because they could – USB charging pot

Finally – a cooking utensil that can also juice up your phone

Technological kitchen appliances have been around for a while, what with internet fridges and flip down cabinet touchscreens, but this is the first time we’ve seen a bog standard pot get the gadget treatment. Infused with a USB port, this pot not only boils pasta, but it can also fully charge your phone (albeit very slowly).

The US$280, Japanese-made pan contains a clever thermoelectric module which magically converts heat to useable juice which your USB-powered devices are all too happy to gobble up. Perfect for those upcoming festivals – assuming you’re willing to hang around in your tent for 5 hours whilst your precious iPhone charges.
