Garmin debuts fightingly fit refresh for Venu Sq 2 fitness tracker

A fitness tracker with a bloated battery, so you can avoid a bloated belly. Garmin launches the Venu Sq 2 tracker at IFA 2022.

Fitness trackers come in all shapes and sizes, but have started to get a little on the pricey side. Garmin’s Venu Sq range has offered more affordable options for trackers. And at IFA 2022, Garmin debuted its latest addition to the range.

Garmin’s new Venu Sq 2 is a refresh of the previous Venu Sq model, which scored three stars out of five in our review. This new tracker boasts some stellar specs to strap onto your wrist. With a much bigger battery and some other quality-of-life tweaks, the Venu Sq 2 makes for an ideal companion on your workouts.

The Venu Sq 2 boasts a 1.4-inch OLED display, reinforced with Gorilla Glass. For any Apple Watch users, that’s about 36mm for comparison. Powering the tidy little fitness tracker is a massive 11-day battery, which is arguably the most impressive feature of the watch. With the Battery Saver mode, you can even squeeze out an extra day of battery. In GPS mode, you’ll still get a respectable 26 hours of battery.

You can track over 25 different activities, outdoors or inside, all with an individual app. As you’d expect from a fitness tracker these days, it measures GPS, heart rate, heart rate variability, blood oxygen, and respiration. When using the tracker, you can track from preloaded workouts, or make your own from the 1600 supported exercises. Extra health features include recovery guidance, sleep tracking, stress tracking, hydration tracking, menstrual or pregnancy tracking, and breathing exercises.

Pairing the Venu Sq 2 to your smartphone means you can receive notifications to the watch. Of course, the watch also works when it’s not connected to a phone. You can even make NFC payments with Garmin Pay, and download third-party apps through the store.

Despite only just debuting at IFA 2022, Garmin’s new Venu Sq 2 is already available to purchase. You can nab one directly from Garmin, and it’ll be ready to ship within one to three business days. The standard model goes for £230, while the music model is slightly more at £260. Across the range, you can pick from slate, cream gold, mint, and peach gold for colours.
