Amazon US Prime Day 2024: here’s where we’ll curate next year’s deals
Check out our pick of the best tech deals around from Amazon US
Amazon Prime Day 2023 has now been and gone, though we’ve still got Black Friday to come of course. Prime Day is really Amazon’s own recreation of Black Friday at another point in the year. You need to be a Prime member to take advantage of the deals.
Prime Day has become so massive that Amazon has given up putting all of its deals into 24 hours. Like the last few years, there were two days of deals in 2023 and we’d expect the same in 2024.
This year Amazon Prime Day took place from Tuesday-Wednesday 11-12 July. It was also on Tuesday through Wednesday last year when Prime Day was almost on the same dates – July 12-13. In 2021, it was on June 21-22, but that was a little bit of a different time. The sales event also took place during July (around the 16/17 mark) in 2015-2019. In 2020, the date was also delayed until October because of the global situation at that time.

As we mentioned, you need to have Amazon Prime to take advantage of Prime Day deals and you can easily get a 30-day free trial for Prime if you’ve never used it before. After the trial, it’ll set you back $139 for the year, or $14.99 a month, but you can cancel the trial at any time during it.
Prime offers you plenty aside from next-day delivery. it gives you full access to its Amazon Prime Instant Video service (you’ll find our own lovingly curated, and constantly updated, list of the best films and TV shows to watch on Prime Video here), but also includes Prime Music and the Kindle Lending Library, plus unlimited one-day delivery from Amazon’s humongous online marketplace.
The best deals are known as Spotlight deals, which will usually be available in a limited quantity, with Lightning Deals sitting alongside them, which will last for just six hours. With both of these, you’ll want to be quick if you like what you see.

How to get the best Prime Day savings
Top deals can tempt, but if you have a shopping list of products you want to get during Prime Day, doing a bit of research ahead of time means the deals you’ll go for are worth the cash.
The saving stated might also be based on the original selling price rather than what it sells for on the site normally. If you’ve got your eye on something, it could be worth finding out its price now, so you know just how much of a deal it really is, or you can use a tool like CamelCamelCamel to see what the previous price was.
Those that are genuine deals – and there are plenty of them – are likely to be snapped up quickly, so be ready to start clicking as soon as they’re live.
