Nokia Lumia 625 hands-on review round-up
We got a go on the largest of Lumias – here are our thoughts and those of our esteemed colleagues
Nokia has just unveiled its Lumia 625, the largest of the Lumia family at 4.7in – and although it may be big, it’s affordable too at £200.
We’ve gone hands-on with the 4G-toting handset – and scoured the internet to find out what other publications made of it.
Power
Stuff’s Will Dunn got his hands on the Lumia 625 at the Nokia event, and reckons that “the dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon S4 is not going to outpace your 500-quid blower but it’ll do most of what WP8 can offer”. While Pocket-Lint’s Stuart Miles expressed similar power concerns, he reckons that “Windows Phone 8 runs a lot better on low-specs compared to Android on similar hardware”.
Design
Despite the price, Will Dunn likes the feel of the Lumia 625 in the hand. “It’s not crazily thin or beautifully made but it’s actually less bricklike than the 920,” he says. Mike Brown of NokNok.tv likes Nokia’s latest version of its bright polycarbonate shell – saying that, “You’ll find the colours even richer than previously. You’ll be amazed at the attention to detail and value for money Nokia has added to this smartphone”.
Camera
At 5MP it’s nothing to write home about and, as Will points out, you shouldn’t expect it to perform anything like the Lumia 1020.
Value for money
There’s extra value added by the 64GB microSD slot, something the Lumia 1020 is sadly lacking. “All in all, for 200 quid (so, free on a fairly cheap contract) you’re getting a lot for your money,” says Will. Although he does point out that, “if you can’t afford a swanky phone, can you afford a 4G contract?”
