12.9in iPad Pro rumours refuse to die, as new cases leak online
The 12.9in iSlate isn’t dead, it’s just warming up
The iPad Pro might be a timid Apple rumour in comparison to the tonne of Watch and iPhone rumours the internet normally churns out, but that doesn’t mean it’s dead and buried.
New photos courtesy of serial Apple-leaker Sony Dickinson show off some over-sized third party iPad cases which are far too roomy for any of the models currently available.
Dickinson believes that these cases are for the long-rumoured 12.2-12.9in iPad Pro, which officially, doesn’t exist.
The cases don’t tell us much about the mysterious tablet, although it interestingly appears to have two Lightning (or USB-C) ports – one on the bottom, and one on the side.
This matches up with previous leaks, which suggest that the large slate could be docked to a keyboard in landscape mode, turning it into a laptop for when things need to get a little more productive.
The front-facing camera and Touch ID home button appear to be in the same position, although it looks like two stereo speakers will flank the top and bottom of the device. It’ll also apparently measure in at 7mm, which is a tad thicker than the iPad Air, but still thinner than the iPhone 6 Plus.
These cases don’t necessarily confirm the existence of the Pro – often manufacturers whip up prototypes based on rumours to keep themselves on their toes – but leaks like this have proved to be right in the past, so you never know.
The Pros insides will apparently contain a triple-core A8X processor, which is apparently 55 percent faster than the one found in the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
Salt-swallowing rules apply here as usual of course, but stay tuned for more leaks, as and when we get them.
