Sometimes a gadget is announced and immediately gets husky growls of approval from Stuff‘s house metal band. Gibson’s digital guitar did it earlier this year, and now it’s happened again at the Best of Stuff show with Pure’s exclusive announcement of this awesome Marshall DAB. The Evoke-1XT Marshall Edition is one of those gadgets that looks so right, it’s almost inconceivable that no one suggested it earlier. Thanks to official input from the amp giant, it’s got the trademark black metallic speaker grille, a brass control panel and a rocking red LED display. In true Spinal Tap fashion, the volume also goes up to 11. You don’t do metal in Dubly Beneath the vinyl skin beats a Pure Evoke heart with more sensible tendencies, including a radio alarm and a headphones socket. It’s available now for £100 from selected retailers, including John Lewis and Richer Sounds. Luckily for Best of Stuffers, it wasn’t the only shiny new box on Pure’s stand. The company also showed off the sequel to its Legato micro system, which will be available for £350 later this month. It looks largely the same as its predecessor, with a cherry, maple or piano-black DAB radio/CD player flanked by two 30W speakers. A handy SD card slot also lets you record radio or play MP3s from your memory card. In the Elgato’s shadow was one final newbie – the cheaper Elan DX40 DAB radio. It packs basic DAB and FM radio functions for an oh-you-shouldn’t-have price tag of £70.
