Banish those painful memories to the dark corners of the interwebs

Facebook has updated its ‘On this Day’ tool to offer users more customisation options for its users, potentially saving them from a lot of bad memories in the process.

The feature reminds you of what was going on in your life on the same day at various times in the past, and the new options now let you select which people and time periods you’d like to be reminded of – as well as ones you never want to see again.

If you happen to make up with anyone, then the process is reversible. Just go to facebook.com/onthisday, and tinker away as much as you like.

If you’re anything like us, you’ll probably want to erase those long nights at the SU from your feed too. Some memories definitely belong in the past…

About

Esat has been a gadget fan ever since his tiny four-year-old brain was captivated by a sound-activated dancing sunflower. From there it was a natural progression to a Sega Mega Drive, a brief obsession with hedgehogs, and a love for all things tech. After 7 years as a writer and deputy editor for Stuff, Esat ventured out into the corporate world, spending three years as Editor of Microsoft's European News Centre. Now a freelance writer, his appetite for shiny gadgets has no bounds. Oh, and like all good human beings, he's very fond of cats.
