Gadget of the Day: Roberts WM201 Wi-Fi Internet radio

We’re all fussy about the tunes we like filling our ears, aren’t we. In the Stuff office, we’re always borrowing each others CDs, co

But for the times when you don’t want anyone else’s musical opinion getting in your way, Roberts has whipped up the WM201 Wi-Fi Internet radio.

This clever bit of tech will happily stream your music from your computer, using that funky wireless network you have, and it’ll churn out the sounds from any of our planet’s 6,000 odd digital radio stations – provided they’re piped through the net, too.

It’ll happily team up with the Windows Media Player on your PC, for some MP3 action. We’re guessing it won’t be all that friendly with iTunes, though, but we’ll find out for sure when we get our hands on one.

The Roberts WM201 also supports the Beeb’s Listen Again service – think of it like Digital Radio +1, in that it repeats the shows you missed so you can, cleverly, listen again.

If you’re wondering about the other features of the WM201, try these: it’s got 2x5w speakers, a large clock display, a line-in, a headphone socket and a sleep timer. It even has a place in its heart for MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV, AIFF, FLAC, Real Player files.

Ah… sitting in the garden, listening to our favourite forgotten MP3s and a bit of Radio China. Can’t beat it.

The Roberts WM201 comes in piano black and is on sale now at places like Amazon.co.uk.
