Gargantuan 6.4in Sony Xperia Z5 Ultra with beastly innards due in March

Sony’s taking its IFA momentum to a whole new level

Sony’s IFA game this year was strong. The Japanese tech giant unveiled three Xperia Z5 series handsets, and the Z5 Premium model threw the spec script out of the window with an insane 4K display.

You’d think then, that Sony’s mobile division plans on relaxing for a while, perhaps finishing off a few half-read books, or learning how to make croissants. But no.

According to previously reliable leaker @Leaksfly, Sony will release a brand new handset next March – and its spec sheet should get Android fans drooling.

The Z5 ultra will, according to the leaker, pack in a gigantic 6.4in 4K display, along with 4GB of RAM and Qualcomm’s eagerly-awaited Snapdragon 820 processor.

While Sony appears to have sorted the 810’s overheating issues in the existing Z5 series (according to initial reports), the 820 processor should arrive cooler than ever, thanks to its smaller 14nm architecture.

Those specs, combined with Sony’s updated camera and a presumably mammoth battery, could very well make the Z5 Ultra the most powerful phone in the world.

There’s plenty of time between now and March however, and with the iPhone 6s set to launch next week, and Mobile World Congress kicking things off in March, there’s plenty to look forward to.
