HTC acknowledges fix for One X Wi-Fi issue
The Taiwanese mobile mogul has been tinkering in its labs to solve flakey Wi-Fi connectivity issues
HTC has acknowledged that a number of its flagship One X handsets suffer from Wi-Fi connectivity issues in which the Wi-Fi signal can be erratic.
XDA Developer user Oliver Stones contacted us about this issue, which has its own thread on the XDA Developer forums where numerous users have complained that they need to squeeze their affected handsets to get a stronger Wi-Fi signal.
The culprit has been identified as a loose connection on the Wi-Fi antenna, and HTC has responded to Android Central by stating that it has “identified a fix that strengthens the area of the phone around the Wi-Fi antennae connection points”.
The Taiwanese mobile giant went on to state that while “many customers have not experienced any problems with signal strength [it] has taken immediate steps to implement a solution… to prevent this issue from happening in the future”.
Good news then for future One X owners, and as for existing users – we’re waiting to hear back from HTC with regards to any warranty or return policies, so stay tuned.
