It’s already the most promising Windows Mobile phone we’ve seen, but it seems the HTC HD2 could get even better with an update to Windows Phone 7 when the OS launches.
The news has come through Adobe, which stated it would not be providing Flash 10.1 with support for WinMo 6.5 due to the OS not supporting “some of the critical APIs”.
It did however state it would be offering support for Windows Phone 7 handsets, and that one of the first to receive Flash will be the HTC HD2 – a handset which of course, currently runs 6.5.
This certainly suggests an upgrade to WP7 is in the pipeline, especially as the HD2 handset matches the minimum spec requirements for the first WP7 chassis.
Upgrades from WinMo 6.5 to WP7 is not something Microsoft itself is opposed to, saying in a tweet that upgrades were “really for hardware partners to think about”.
As for Flash support on Android phones, the Milestone and Nexus One will be among the first to get it in 2010, although all Android smartphones that match Adobe’s software and hardware requirements will get it with time. You hear that Apple?
Would you upgrade your HD2 to Windows Phone 7, or will you stick with 6.5? Let us know below.
