LG’s 8GB jukebox sneaks into UK

Well, here’s a welcome antidote to today’s marketing overkill – LG has posted details about its first jukebox on its homepage, and told absolutely no one about it.

Thankfully, it goes into some detail about the mysterious one’s talents on its site. Like Sony’s new NW-A1200 Walkman, the MFJM53 has an 8GB hard-drive, and goes one further by adding PlaysForSure compatibility for Napster downloading.

With its body a petite 14mm thick, navigation is done via an index finger button on the side. The screen is a 1.8in, 160×128 pixel OLED affair.

Two other features stand out from its fairly standard mix of USB 2.0 connectivity and MP4 playback. Firstly, there’s a 30-hour battery life which, if accurate, is extremely generous for a hard-drive player.

We’re also intrigued by its promise of ‘music therapy’ – will it dissect the origins of our inexplicable love for the Hawaiian nose flute? We wait for official feedback with a barely controllable anticipation.

Unfortunately, LG was unavailable for comment on pricing and availability of the MFJM53, but we’ll update you as soon as we get more. To get your own sneak preview, go to the gadgety pastures of LG’s UK site.
