Challenging the preconception that all monitors look the same, LG has been doing its best to change the image of PC displays for good, with its so-called Fantasy series.Designed with a modicum more flair than your average TFT, the range is worthy of even the hippest cribs. Already here is the unfortunately named Ring and now following in its sculpted footsteps is this creation, the Jar.Like its predecessor it has a tasty black surround, topped off (or rather bottomed off) by a designer glowing stand. This one takes the shape of what LG believes is the aforementioned jar, but what we’d more accurately describe as a neatly carved slice of melon.Still, it looks the part, and does the same glowing red trick as the Ring. Thankfully, the screen is equally divine, boasting a welcome 2000:1 contrast ratio, speedy 4ms response time (for footy watching and gaming marathons), and hi-def 1280×1024 resolution. Still no HDMI inputs though, so you can forget about any Sky HD aspirations.Watch out for them from next month.
