Pierre Cardin updates UK’s first designer tablet to Gingerbread

French fashion brand + tablet = not so fashionable tablet

For a designer brand, Pierre Cardin’s 7in tablet certainly doesn’t scream designer product. That’s despite its leather case featuring a metallic Pierre Cardin logo scrawled across the back, and black gift box.

A month after outing the UK’s first designer tablet with measly Froyo-flavoured innards, the French fashion house has treated it to a Gingerbread 2.3 update, explaining the G planted at the end of its alpha-numeric name, PC-7006G. However, its still unashamedly chunky at 14mm thick, and no where near as desirable as mainstream tablets.

Like the budget Andy Pad, the only thing it’s really got going for it is its pocket-friendly price which has been taken down a notch from £275 to £224, and er, its 1GHz Samsung Cortex-A8 processor (we’re clearly clutching at straws here). So if you can get over its Honeycomb oversight and perhaps want to differentiate yourself from the tablet crowd, Pierre Cardin’s tablet is just waiting for someone to pick it up and have a prod. You may just save it from ending up in the bargain bin. There’s even a 4GB SD card chucked in. Is that enough to convince you? Thought not.
