There’s no way we’re calling Samsung’s gargantuan 7in phablet a smartphone
Oh Samsung, is no size too big?
This is a leaked, unnamed Samsung ‘smartphone’, and it has a 7in screen. Yes, seven. Inches.
The mysterious behemoth popped up at German site Mobile Geeks, courtesy of Chinese regulator TENAA, and judging by the specs, it’s targeting the entry level rather than the high-end of the smartphone market. It will certainly tick the boxes for anyone keen to make calls, read tablet mags and save money at the same time.
The 7in screen has a 720p resolution – no problem on a 5in smartphone, but stretching that number of pixels over this large a display will disappoint the eyeballs of the connoisseur.
It’s no powerlifter under the hood either, with a quad-core 1.2GHz processor and 1.5GB of RAM. An 8MP camera and 8GB of expandable memory finish off the spec list.
There’s no name to go on, but we could be looking at a successor to the original Samsung Galaxy Mega, albeit one with a Note 3-like faux leather rear.
Would you make phone calls on this in public? For us, even the latest 5in flagships are pushing it size-wise, and this phone rather takes the biscuit.
That’s all the info we have for the time being, but make sure to keep an eye out on the Stuff Giant Watch channel to see if any more sightings have occurred.
