LG’s Band Play smartphone is all about the music
1W speakers and a premium QuadBeat 3 headset on board
LG’s just announced a new midrange phone and it’s aimed directly at the music-loving crowd. Behold the Band Play, a handset that comes equipped with 1W speakers. Presumably that means better audio fidelity, much like HTC’s Beats Audio and BoomSound on-board speakers.
It’s not a flagship phone and the specs are, at best, middling: it’s fitted with a quad-core 1.2GHz processor running on the Snapdragon 410 chipset, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of flash memory and a 5in 720 x 1280 pixel display.
Besides those aforementioned 1W speakers, the Band Play also comes with a LG’s Quadbeat 3 headphones, which were originally created for LG’s G4. As for the camera, it’s a 13MP shooter at the back, with a generous 5MP in front. The phone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop, and features a “focus mode” that turns off data and Wi-Fi and auto-rejects incoming calls. We suppose it’s so you can keep listening to the sweet tunes without any distractions?
Currently a South Korea-only model, there’s no word when or if it’ll go worldwide. It will retail in the country for KRW 394,800 (around £225).
