Samsung Stratosphere gets fully specced

The 4G QWERTY slider comes out of the shadows in the US

QWERTY lovers, take heart – you might not have to walk around with a businessman’s brick in your pocket for much longer. Samsung’s upcoming slider, the Stratosphere, has turned up on US network Verizon rocking Android 2.3, a 4in Super AMOLED display and 4G LTE capabilities.

If you were hoping for an update to the Galaxy S II, this should be an altogether more affordable beast. The spec sheet – unearthed by Droid Life – also mentions that the Stratosphere will be “mid” tier, which gets our hopes up for a decent price come launch day as well as details of a 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 5MP rear camera and 1.3MP front facer – although you’ll have to settle for 480p video capture. Samsung is also taking a leaf out of Apple’s book with a micro SIM in place of the traditional SIM card. There’s no word yet on UK release date or pricing for the Stratosphere but just make sure you keep one eye off the keyboard for the latest smartphone news from Sammy.
