EE takes on Sky Q with Recordings to Go mobile viewing
No content blocks and no expiry dates - take any Free-to-air show on the move
Want to watch UK TV pretty much anywhere, and do it legally? EE’s got you covered with a new app update.
The EE TV app’s new Recordings To Go feature lets anyone with an EE TV box record their favourite Free-to-air shows and transfer them to a smartphone or tablet to watch when they leave the house.
It’s the first time you’ve been able to watch programmes from every single UK free-to-air channel through a single app, rather than jump between on-demand apps like BBC iPlayer and All4.
Shows can be transferred to your mobile as soon as they’ve aired, and you aren’t limited to soaps or entertainment, either.
That means movies and sport are fair game too. With no content blocks and no expiry dates, you only have to worry about blabbermouths at work spoiling last night’s game by telling you the score.
The app lets you set recordings when you’re away from home, so you don’t miss that crucial Eastenders plot twist. There’s a good chance it involves the phrase “get out of my pub”.
You get the same EPG on mobile that you see on the set-top box, so there’s no getting confused when switching from big screen to small screen.
Think of Recordings to Go as EE’s warning shot to Sky: now that Sky Q is here, complete with multiple tuners and mobile viewing, Free-to-air TV needs a way to catch up.
The EE TV app should be getting updated on Android and iOS this week, and is available for all EE broadband customers.
