It doesn’t have headline Blu-Ray powers or a Ferrari paint job, but Evesham’s new laptop all-rounder is for anyone who prefers not to throw cash at future-proofing and frivolity.

The Voyager C545 is something of a Michael Ballack in its mastery of the simple things – there’s a nippy Intel Core Duo processing, a 100GB hard-drive and 1GB RAM.

Its face is a solid, understated 14.1in WXGA affair, there’s a built-in TV tuner, and the drive will read dual layer DVDs and burned CDRW discs.

Lovers of wireless hotspots are served by in-built Wi-Fi, and there’s further connectivity with Bluetooth, four USB 2.0 ports and a TV-out for hooking it up to your LCD.

It won’t be able to match the latest Nvidia-equipped Alienware powerhouse, but there are at least some gaming possibilities with a 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon graphics card.

So, if you’re after a workhorse laptop rather than a show pony, this could be it. The C545 will be available later this month on Evesham’s site priced from £1000.
