Wandering minstrels take note. you can now record a riff or new song idea with nothing more than a cunning cable and an iPhone.

The GuitarBud accessory from Paul Reed Guitars plugs into the headphone jack of your iPhone or 2nd gen iPod touch, then the other two ends go to a set of headphones and the slammin’ axe of your choice.

You can record your furious fingerpicking via PRS’s own Jam Amp app (£5.99) which acts as an amp, tuner and training tool.

But you’re not tied to Jam Amp as GuitarBud also works with a host of other guitar apps including StompVox, Riff Raters, GigDaddy, iStrobosoft, Rectools Pro and Guitar FX Deluxe. Or if you just want to record with none of the funny stuff, plain old Voice Memos will do the job too.

Available now for £19.95 from DV247
