Is this the Google Nexus 9?
An image of Google’s next tablet has leaked – and it looks a lot like the last Nexus slate
We’ve heard a few rumours concerning Google’s next tablet, the Nexus 9: it’ll have an 8.9in screen, a hugely powerful Nvidia Tegra K1 processor and a “thick aluminium body”, and it’ll be manufactured by HTC – and now we’ve seen an image purporting to show the device. Or its backside, at least.
We know what you’re thinking: that it looks a lot like the Nexus 7.

I’m rubber, you are glue…
The 2013 edition of the Nexus 7 (made by Asus) has a rubbery-textured back with an imprinted Nexus logo, and the leaked image suggests the Nexus 9 may be similar.
The photo isn’t exactly press shot quality, but the back appears to be a matte black material that looks, to our eyes at least, decidedly like the same rubbery substance. It feels nice in your hands, true – but it’s not aluminium. The Nexus 9 also appears to have a wider, squatter shape than the Nexus 7, suggesting a different screen aspect ratio (4:3, perhaps?).
Of course, as with all leaked shots we’d suggest you take this with a generous pinch of salt.
Stay tuned for more Nexus 9 rumours in the coming weeks.
