The HP Pro Slate 12 is a giant tablet that comes with a super smart stylus

HP pulls the wrappers off several new models, including a 12in model clad in Gorilla Glass 4

HP’s spoiling us for choice. The company has just announced a range of new tablets, and they’ve all excited us – but the one that stood out of the pack was the HP Pro Slate 12, the company’s really, really big tablet.

So if you love massive-screened tablets (this one’s a whopping 12.3in), this Android unit is one to drool over. Described as a bigger version of the HTC One (M8), the mobile device comes paired with what HP calls the Duet Pen.

The Duet Pen is HP’s stylus (with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon digital pen tech) that literally writes on anything. Meaning you can doodle on the tablet or on any paper and it will automatically appear on the tablet too.

Stronger Gorilla Glass

But there’s much more to the tablet than just a fancy pen. It is one of the first few devices equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass 4, is powered by a Snapdragon 800 chipset, and boasts 2GB of RAM.

It comes out of the box running on Android KitKat. The unit also comes with a 1600 x 1200 resolution (163ppi), which is somewhat mediocre by today’s standards for a large screened tablet, if you ask us.

HP’s also launched the Pro Slate 8 in this range, a 7.9in unit with a 1536 x 2048 (324ppi) pixel screen. The HP Pro Slate 12 will be priced at US$569 (£375), while the Pro Slate 8 is a cheaper alternative at US$449 (£300). We’ll update the story with local pricing and availability when we hear from HP.
