Since we brought the M2010 to your attention back in June, we’ve spent our mornings feverishly anticipating the postman, only to be let down by the arrival of nothing more than yet another set of iPod speakers and a USB mug warmer. Finally, postie has delivered, and we’ve been admiring the M2010’s panther-black sheen and sophistication ever since. Finished with a combination of stylish seventies chic and contemporary brushed-metal trimmings, it combines desktop superpower with a relatively laptop size.So far our favourite features are the detachable magnetic keyboard, the 20in SXGA+ widescreen (that bears a resemblance to Sony’s own glossy X-Black displays) and especially the slinky vertical eject system on the DVD drive. Sometimes we’re easily pleased. All of that is before we’ve even looked at the rest of the specs. Get it fired up and waiting beyond that screen is a dual core processor, eight built-in speakers with integrated sub, and, if you stump up an extra £390, dual 120GB hard drives. The whole thing folds to a manageable size, and it’s even got a leather handle for that true suitcase feel. It certainly isn’t ultra-portable though; if you’re looking for something to transport to and from the office each day the M2010 probably isn’t going to satisfy, although it’s great for moving round the house.
