Asus Padfone 2 gets 16 October launch

Invitations sent out for announcement of the Android smartphone at joint events in Italy and Taiwan

The followup to the Asus Padfone (read our hands-on here) will be revealed next month, with Asus holding events in Milan and Taipei on 16 October.

Invitations exhorting journalists to “save the date” show a portion of the smartphone’s front. It looks… well, pretty much as you’d expect an Acer Android handset to look.

It’s thought that the Padfone 2 will run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and be powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon, but nothing is confirmed as yet.
