Samsung NX Mini 2 packs 4K into a tiny mirrorless frame

Leaked pictures and specs of compact system camera are pretty impressive

4K is fast becoming a standard video recording option on higher end cameras, even at the smaller end of the market.

Samsung has already launched a compact system camera able to capture ultra HD footage (that’d be the NX1, which we’ve reviewed here), and now it’s cramming similar technology into a much more pocketable model – at least if some leaked images and specs turn out to be the real deal, because the camera is yet to be officially announced.

It’s called the Samsung NX Mini 2 and it’ll come with a 20.5MP sensor, flip-up 3in Super AMOLED screen, Wi-Fi, NFC and the aforementioned 4K recording (albeit limited to 24fps). Fit it with a Samsung pancake lens, like the 9mm f/3.5 one in the images here, and it’s a pretty compact proposition considering its specs.

Samsung has yet to officially announce the camera, so take all this with a pinch of salt until that happens, but it all seems pretty legit to us. The pre-order price on a Dutch site is €449 (around £320), which isn’t too steep for a camera in this category. We’ll update you with the details if and when Samsung drops them.
