Amazon’s Alexa-enabled Cloud Cam can open your front door for deliveries

It was only a matter of time until Amazon got involved in the smart security game, so while we’re not totally surprised by the unveiling of Cloud Cam, its standout feature is a bit of a headline-grabber. The camera ties in with a new (currently US-only) service called Key, which essentially allows Amazon couriers to enter your home with a package, even when you’re not there. Once they’ve scanned the barcode on a smart lock fixed to your door, Cloud Cam’s video stream will be used to determine whether they can enter. In terms of specs, the security camera will record in 1080p, with a 120-degree wide viewing angle, two-way audio, Person Detection and night vision capabilities. Naturally, Alexa is on board too. If you had, for example, a Fire HD 10, you could summon the Cloud Cam feed with a simple voice command. Prices for the camera – out on November 8 across the pond – start at $120 (£90), and there are a number multi-device bundles on offer.
