Stop stroking those TomTom sat-navs Nokia N-Series owners – Route 66 has just announced that its software is now compatible with all the latest Series 60 phones.
This means Mobile 7, the new version of its smartphone GPS software, is now compatible with a range of our favourite new handsets, including Nokia’s E and N-Series, and a handful of Panasonic and Samsungs.
Route 66 offers the choice of a full-blown sat-nav package or a software-only deal. The former provides you with a Bluetooth GPS receiver, in-car charger, phone bracket and a memory card loaded with your choice of maps. If you just want maps for one country it’ll cost €300 (£210), while a Europe version is available for €400 (£280).
Peeps who’ve already got the GPS gear can just buy the software on its own – the one-country version costs €100 (£70) while the Europe maps will set you back €150 (£105).
Smartphone GPS software may not be as hot the latest dedicated devices, like the TomTom 910, but Route 66 is putting all its new customers into a draw to win a free driving holiday in the US along the legendary road. And marketing stunts like that are, in our book, by far the most important consideration when it comes to making your final decision.
