LG’s Google Nexus 5 leaks again
And this time it’s dressed in black
Will we ever be surprised by a phone launch again? We’re starting to doubt it.
Yesterday’s iPhone 6s reveal held almost nothing in the way of shocks, and now yet another picture of the LG-built Google Nexus 5 (or, possibly, Nexus 5X) has slipped out ahead of its announcement. It seems like only yesterday that a photo of a white Nexus 5 leaked (oh wait… it was yesterday), but this new shot shows off a different colour finish: black. You can’t go wrong with black, really, can you? It goes with everything.
As with the white one, there’s an LG logo at the bottom, slightly protruding camera module, dual-tone flash and, just below the camera lens, a fingerprint scanner. See, we told you there wouldn’t be any surprises.
The 2015 Nexus 5 is tipped to come with a Snapdragon 808 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB/64GB of storage, a 2700mAh battery, 12.3MP rear camera with laser autofocus and a 5.2in 1080p screen. Android 6.0 Marshmallow is a given, of course.
Those specs suggest it’s very much a mid-ranger compared to most flagship Android phones, so one thing we do remain curious about is the price tag – will Google subsidise the price to undercut the likes of the OnePlus 2 which, on paper, looks to be a far more powerful device?
We should find out on 29th September, when Google is holding a special event. Who knows, maybe the company will actually be able to surprise us?
